How can I become a member of Impact100 Metro Detroit?
New and returning members must fill out a membership form. Several payment options are available, including credit card, check, monthly installments, employer matching funds, and payments through donor-advised funds.
When can I join?
Anytime! We welcome new memberships throughout the year. However, payment must be complete by April 15 to vote in May, and by December 31 to participate in the grant review process.
Can I make my membership donation with installment payments?
Yes. Once set up, monthly payments are automatically deducted from your credit card until the full $1,100 is paid. Payments must be complete by April 15 each year.
Is there any financial support available for membership?
Impact100 Metro Detroit offers a limited number of supported memberships for those who wish to join but require financial assistance. Members are asked to contribute what they can, and Impact100 Metro Detroit—through additional donations or corporate sponsorships—covers the remainder.
To apply, select the Pledged Membership form, indicate you are requesting support, and complete the follow-up form on the exit page. Once your application is submitted, a member of the Board of Directors will contact you.
Why is $100 added to membership?
Though we are a fully volunteer-run organization and pay no salaries, the extra $100 each member contributes is used to cover our general operating expenses. These include costs for data management software, banking, accounting, and grant application software—which allows us to offer a free application process for non-profits—as well as expenses for events such as the Big Give.
Your full $1,000 membership goes directly into the grant pool and is awarded to deserving non-profits through a voting process at the Big Give.
I want to give more than the required membership donation. Do I get more than one vote?
Additional donations are welcome. Your generosity can help with operating expenses, provide support for women who need financial assistance, sponsor events, and more. You can decide how your donation will be used by indicating your preference on the donation form. Please note that additional donations do not provide an additional vote at the Big Give.
If my employer or my spouse’s employer has a matching program, will you accept this donation?
Yes, we gratefully accept employer matching gifts. You may use your match to cover part of your membership cost, or pay your membership in full and donate your match to us and designate how you would like us to use it—these options are available on the membership form. To join this way, use the Pledged Membership form to fill out the necessary details.
Be sure to submit a matching gift request to your employer or your spouse’s employer. Some employers also offer matching gifts for retirees.
What role is there for me if I don’t want to become a member?
We welcome “Friends of Impact 100 Metro Detroit” and are thrilled when individuals or foundations choose to support us through monetary or in-kind service donations. While these contributions do not provide voting rights, they play a vital role in covering the operating expenses essential to accomplishing our mission.
How long is my membership valid?
Each paid-in-full membership provides voting rights for the current grant year. The grant year runs from June 1 to May 31—note that this spans two different calendar years.
Are donations to Impact100 Metro Detroit tax deductible?
Yes. Impact100 Metro Detroit is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law for the year in which they are made. Please consult your tax advisor for guidance.
