Detroit Horse Power

Mission:

Detroit Horse Power uniquely addresses two persistent problems facing the Motor City: the shortage of opportunities for metro Detroit's vulnerable populations (especially children) and the abundance of vacant land. Through riding and caring for horses in a safe and enriching space, program participants learn valuable skills that set them up for future success. Our facility, built on repurposed vacant land, will contribute to the city's renewal and be a center for community events and equestrian services.

Focus Area: Revitalization, Recreation, and Environment

Project Title: Equipment to Operate New Urban Equestrian Education Center

Project Description:

Detroit Horse Power has broken ground on our urban equestrian education center, which will scale proven youth development programming and transform 14 acres of blight into a community asset. In order to move into the new facility and be ready to commence expanded operations in 2026, the organization requests one-time support to secure the equipment needed to operate this impactful new space, including a tractor with attachments and a truck and horse trailer. These essential pieces of equipment are owner-supplied and will not be secured through our construction budget. Impact100 Metro Detroit is ideally positioned to fill this critical gap and ensure Detroit Horse Power can significantly increase access to the power of horses for kids and communities in Detroit's future.
